You run your hands down your smooth, flat stomach, turning this way and that to admire your slim, supple self in the mirror.
This too shall pass.
You swallow the too-spicy mess food with difficulty, eyeing the strangers around you with trepidation. Everyone seems to know someone, except you.
This too shall pass.
You snuggle, nose-to-nose, feeling his sleeping breath warm, fragrant and so him, against your face.
Trust me, this one will definitely pass.
Things change, people change, diapers need to be changed.
Every high, every happiness, every beautiful thing you see around you...will change, will pass. But then so will every low, every sadness and every ugliness that exists.
Its an equal-opportunity reality, really.
And all those cliches you hear - the only thing that's constant is change or time heals everything...all point back to this revelation.
So is this going to be a 'live in the NOW' pep-talk, you ask?
Hell yes!
But this is also about saying - this too shall pass, so don't get hung up on the good or on the bad, don't let it define who you are or what you can be because whether you like it or not, come morning you will be dragged headfirst (maybe kicking and screaming) into a new reality, so save your ass some stress and let it go.
So when your little one (on whom you've lavished years of devoted love & care) turns into a slavering, rabid monster teenager...let the indignation go.
When the business you started with stars in your eyes (and money in your account) tanks and sinks without a gurgle...let the bitterness go.
When the promotion you slaved for is gift-wrapped and given to the ass-licking putz colleague...let the resentment go.
After all, is there anything else you CAN do?
Nope, cos otherwise you'd have done it already.
Think of it like a really large band-aid people, the more it sticks, the more its going to f*&king hurt when it comes off.
So in the words of the mom-trepreneur...
'Suck it up, people & get ready to rip that band-aid off.
And feel free to scream, cos this too shall pass!'
